HELP, DON'T HURT

Hello everyone, I decided to cover on a very common discussed yet sensitive topic... Bullying! It's not only to raise more awareness on a digital platform but also to encourage them to stand back on their feet and not give up!

So I would like to mainly dedicate this post to those who have gone through this terrible phase in life or are going through it right now.
Let's get started!!

As you all might already know, bullying is an unwanted, aggressive behavior of ABUSE common among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance.

Types Of Bullying
  • Verbal bullying, is saying or writing mean things including:
    • Teasing
    • Name-calling
    • Threatening to cause harm

  • Social bullying, involves hurting someone’s reputation which also include:
    • Telling other children not to be friends with someone
    • Spreading rumors about someone
    • Embarrassing someone in public
  • Physical bullying, involves hurting  somebody or their possessions which includes:
    • Hitting/kicking/pinching
    • Breaking someone’s things

Where and When Bullying Happens

Most reported bullying happens during or after school hours, a significant percentage also happens in on the Internet by cyber bullying.
My Experience

I was once a victim of social bullying, where I had to endure rumors about myself and violation of personal property. But today I can proudly say, it has made me a stronger person. Despite having plenty of opportunities to bully them back, I did not have the heart to do so, and stand in line with them who put me through all that. I am better off holding my dignity in my hands than drag it down to prove others low.

The pain and struggle a person goes through, is familiar to only that person who endures all of it! Like the song goes: What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!

Kids Who are Bullied

Kids who are bullied undergo negative physical and mental health issues and are also more likely to experience:
  • Depression and anxiety, increased feelings of sadness and loneliness, changes in sleep and eating patterns, and loss of interest in activities they used to enjoy. These issues may persist into adulthood.
  • Health complaints
  • Decreased academic achievement and school participation. They are more likely to miss, skip, or even drop out of school.
Sadly, bullying has reached such an extent where it is happening to claim plenty of lives through suicide.

The Cure

The point is how we take this experience and learn from it. Everyone goes through a dark phase in life, and has used it to their benefits to succeed. Like they say: When there is light, there is hope! You always find light at the end of a dark tunnel, just the journey through the dark is what we all have to learn to endure.

Some time in everyone's life, they walk into this tunnel but their experiences may vary from one individual to another. At the end, they approach light and life is all well again.

Bullying can be one example to that walk in the dark, it does not mean life ends there... Some people might ask you to keep silent and ignore what is happening to you and to give in, hoping they would never come back...

Guess what? They're gonna come back! Giving in is equivalent of exposing your back to be stabbed a million times with the knowledge of being attacked. Why let them do it?

Instead of enduring this silent treatment...take immediate action! Talk to the head of discipline in your school or feel free to open up to your parents or dearest friends. In this time of need, they all will help keep your emotional stability balanced.

But always keep in mind to hold your head up high and fight back! Feeble emotions, verbal paralysis, or even a weak body can not tear apart a strong and confident mind.

Lastly...In order to raise awareness, just my voice will not be enough!

I would like my dear readers to show your support for this good cause by commenting "Help, Don't Hurt" on my blog's comment section below and help encourage people suffering or have suffered this torture to never give up on themselves...

Thank you for your support and stay tuned for more! :)
